As you may have seen in the past, electric bills can be extremely high. This makes us pause and go “WHAT!!!” when we get our monthly bill. When you come and go from your apartment, turn that light switch off! More than likely, nobody is going to enjoy that extra lamp for reading when your space is empty. The longer you leave your lights on when you do not truly “need” them on, the higher that bill upticks. Many of our luxury rentals include a dishwasher saving us time from doing the dishes by hand. This option is rather convenient for renters but remember to only run the dishwasher when it is full. If we consistently run loads around the clock that are only have full, we are furthermore eating up energy in an inefficient fashion. The same goes for the use of your washer and dryer. Doing our laundry is also very important. Renters may also consider hang-drying specific items rather then tossing them in the dryer with your other items. Purchase some additional hangers and place them on your closet rack until they dry completely. When running your heat throughout your luxury rental, be sure to close windows and minimize any drafts. Draft stoppers for your windows and doors can be found online or at your local convenience store. This will prevent your HVAC system from running more often in the “auto” setting. What else can we do to save energy for all and lower costs in the long run? Many of our Q4 Real Estate rentals provide residents with a trash and recycling bin. As you dispose of items, consider separating these items accordingly before taking them outside and disposing of them. There are also many reusable household products such as jars and washable paper towels. With jars, you can store food and continuously reuse them rather than going out and buying more supplies. With the washable paper towels, you can clean up that tiny mess and run this through your washing machine. Save money by not purchasing rolls of paper towels every other month.
